… I used to really struggle to read.  That made me  feel bad.  Now I’m reading chapter books and when I have a problem, I use the  tools I have learned.  I felt like I couldn’t learn to read.  Somebody just had to teach me the way I learn. Thank you reading center, you changed my life  forever !

…With A Different Way In Reading Center, my reading and spelling got a lot better than before.  I am reading for fun more often, but not asking my parents or sisters how to pronounce words as often, and when I finish the program, I might never ask them how to spell a word again.

- Tim, student

…[He] thought he was stupid, and now he knows he just learns things differently.  He has found a different way  into learning and the services of [his teacher] and the Alphabetic Phonics program made that possible for him. [He] is in the 8th grade now and is getting all A’s and B’s.  He is so much more confident of his abilities and feels so  much better about himself.  I thank A Different Way In for all their devotion and attention to children with dyslexia who are in need of tools to learn.

- M.S., parent

It helps children learn the secrets so that they can start reading and writing better.  I know because now I can  read chapter books.

- Nadia, student

…At elementary school. I felt stupid because I couldn’t read or write that well.  Because of this, the teachers called me
lazy.  My  parents saw me work my butt off and knew something wasn’t right.  I hated  reading out loud...  I felt so helpless when I heard kids saying they got their  homework done in 15 minutes, and it took me over 2 hours…  I hate dyslexia, but  the center made it easier to deal with in reading, writing, and spelling.  My  teacher helps me deal with the stress of dyslexia because she lets me go at my  own pace, and if I make a mistake with her, I don’t feel embarrassed.  It’s been  easier since I got help at the center.

- Giovanni, student

My 12 year old daughter has been working with [her teacher] at A Different Way In Reading Center for over a year.  My daughter was  a struggling reader and had major spelling difficulties.  I cannot speak highly  enough about the improvements I’ve seen in my daughter’s  spelling and writing  since she has been working with [her teacher] at the center.  It is quite amazing.  The program obviously works, and [her teacher] has been a continual  source of encouragement and enthusiasm to my daughter’s learning…

…Now he does a better job of reading, which has helped improve his all around performance in his learning ability at school.  [He] has excelled wonderfully and positively since attending  the center.  Again, we thank you for your positive influence on our son’s  life.

- L.R. and W.H., parents

13 year old Jesse was asked by a classroom teacher what he felt when he realized Alphabetic Phonics was going to work for him.  His  reply, “Relief.”

I am so sad at school when I look at other people’s writing because theirs looks so much better than mine…I used to stop on every word.  Now after going to the center, I don’t.

- Angelina, student

If everyone taught the way you do [at the Center], everyone would know they are smart.

- Michael, student

When teaching my son to read, I didn’t expect there to be any problem.  When I was faced with one, searching for  the correct method for him to learn well was the MOST difficult thing I ever had  to do.  Finding A Different Way In Reading Center has completed the search, after 10 years.

I have to say this is a no nonsense  approach to learning to read.  By no nonsense, I mean there are no distractions  to take the focus away from the letters and their sounds.  When he first started  the program, [my son] was at a 1st grade reading level; now he is at a 4th grade  reading level.  I am amazed and relieved at his progress.  I believe that the  comprehensive, consistent, and systematic approach of this reading program has  been just what my son needed all these years.  He is reading more fluently now and is starting to build back that self confidence that he lost.  I am convinced  this is the best reading program available to the kids in our school district.

My son and I would like to thank you so much for providing this wonderful service.
